Afin de réduire les risques de blessures, il est indispensable de
bien lire et de bien comprendre le présent manuel dʼutilisation
avant dʼutiliser cet outil.
Portez des lunettes de protection et des protections auditives
lorsque vous utilisez cet outil.
Nʼapprochez pas vos mains de la lame, elle est très coupante.
Tenez et utilisez votre outil avec vos deux mains.
Maintenez les visiteurs à une distance dʼau moins 15 m de la
zone de travail.
Ne fumez pas lorsque vous mélangez du carburant ou que vous
remplissez le réservoir de carburant.
Utilisez de lʼessence sans plomb destinée aux automobiles avec
un indice dʼoctane de 87 ([R+M]/2) ou plus.
Utilisez une huile de synthèse deux temps pour les moteurs à
refroidissement à air.
Mélangez bien le carburant avant chaque remplissage du
réservoir.

Lʼentretien nécessite beaucoup de soin et une bonne
connaissance de lʼoutil : il doit être effectué par
un technicien qualifié. Pour les réparations, nous
vous conseillons dʼapporter votre outil au CENTRE
SERVICE AGRÉE le plus proche de chez vous.
Seules des pièces de rechange dʼorigine doivent être
utilisées en cas de remplacement.

Nʼessayez pas dʼutiliser cet outil avant

dʼutilisation et reportez-vous-y régulièrement

NʼUTILISEZ PAS CET OUTIL DANS UN ESPACE

UTILISEZ LʼOUTIL APPROPRIÉ. Ne forcez pas
votre outil. Ne lʼutilisez pas à des fins non prévues

bijoux pouvant se prendre dans les éléments en

recommandons dʼutiliser des gants de travail et
des chaussures anti-dérapantes lorsque vous
travaillez à lʼextérieur. Si vous avez les cheveux
longs, veillez à les attacher et à les couvrir.
NʼUTILISEZ PAS CET OUTIL PIEDS NUS OU SI
VOUS PORTEZ DES CHAUSSURES LÉGÈRES
TELLES QUE DES SANDALES. Portez des
chaussures épaisses qui protègent bien les pieds
et qui vous éviteront de glisser sur des surfaces
glissantes.
SOYEZ TOUJOURS PRUDENT AFIN DʼÉVITER DE
GLISSER OU DE TOMBER.
VEILLEZ À TOUJOURS UTILISER DES LUNETTES

NE TENDEZ PAS LE BRAS TROP LOIN ET NE
PRENEZ PAS APPUI SUR DES SUPPORTS
INSTABLES. Prenez bien appui sur vos jambes.
UTILISEZ LES ACCESSOIRES RECOMMANDÉS
UNIQUEMENT. Lʼutilisation dʼaccessoires
inadaptés peut entraîner des risques de
blessures.
VÉRIFIEZ QUʼ AUCUNE PIÈCE Nʼ EST
ENDOMMAGÉE. Avant de continuer à utiliser
votre outil, vérifiez quʼune pièce ou un accessoire
endommagé peut continuer à fonctionner ou à
remplir sa fonction. Vérifiez lʼalignement et le
bon fonctionnement des pièces mobiles. Vérifiez
quʼaucune pièce nʼest cassée. Contrôlez le
montage et tout autre élément pouvant affecter
le fonctionnement de lʼoutil. Un dispositif de
protection ou toute autre pièce endommagé(e)
doit être réparé(e) ou remplacé(e) par un

NE VOUS ÉLOIGNEZ JAMAIS DE LʼOUTIL
LORSQUʼIL EST EN MARCHE. ÉTEIGNEZ-LE. Ne
vous éloignez pas de lʼoutil avant quʼil ne soit
complètement arrêté.
VEILLEZ À CE QUE DE LʼHERBE, DES FEUILLES
OU DE LA GRAISSE NE SʼACCUMULE PAS SUR
LE MOTEUR. Vous éviterez ainsi les risques
dʼincendies.
VEILLEZ À CE QUE LʼÉCHAPPEMENT NE SOIT
JAMAIS OBSTRUÉ.
RESPECTEZ LES INSTRUCTIONS DU FABRICANT
CONCERNANT LE REMPLISSAGE, LA VIDANGE,
LE TRANSPORT ET LE RANGEMENT DE LʼOUTIL
POUR TRAVAILLER EN TOUTE SÉCURITÉ.
ASSUREZ-VOUS QUE LʼOUTIL RESTE SEC
ET PROPRE (NI HUILE, NI GRAISSE). Utilisez
toujours un chiffon propre pour nettoyer votre
outil. Ne le nettoyez jamais à lʼaide de liquide de
frein, dʼessence, de produits à base de pétrole ou
de solvants.
SOYEZ TOUJOURS VIGILANT ET RESTEZ MAÎTRE
DE VOTRE OUTIL. Regardez bien ce que vous
faites et faites appel à votre bon sens. Nʼutilisez
pas votre outil lorsque vous êtes fatigué. Ne vous
pressez pas.
NʼUTILISEZ PAS VOTRE OUTIL SI VOUS ÊTES
SOUS LʼEMPRISE DE LʼALCOOL OU DE DROGUES
OU SI VOUS PRENEZ DES MÉDICAMENTS.

Retirez les pierres, débris de verre, clous, câbles
métalliques, cordes et autres objets qui pourraient
être projetés ou se prendre dans lʼoutil.
NʼUTILISEZ PAS LʼOUTIL SI LʼINTERRUPTEUR NE
PERMET PAS DE LE METTRE EN MARCHE ET DE
LʼARRÊTER. Faites remplacer tout interrupteur
défectueux dans un Centre Service Agréé.
AVANT TOUTE OPÉRATION DE NETTOYAGE
OU DʼENTRETIEN, arrêtez le moteur et assurez-
vous que toutes les pièces mobiles sont à lʼarrêt.
Débranchez le fil de la bougie et maintenez-le
éloigné de la bougie pour éviter tout démarrage
accidentel.
ÉVITEZ LES ENVIRONNEMENTS À RISQUE.
Nʼutilisez pas votre outil électrique dans des
endroits humides ou mouillés et ne lʼexposez pas
à la pluie. Veillez à ce que la lumière soit toujours
suffisante pour travailler.
NʼUTILISEZ JAMAIS VOTRE OUTIL DANS UN
ENVIRONNEMENT EXPLOSIF. Les étincelles
provenant du moteur pourraient enflammer des
vapeurs inflammables.
NE FUMEZ PAS LORSQUE VOUS UTILISEZ
VOTRE OUTIL ET NE VOUS APPROCHEZ JAMAIS
DʼUNE FLAMME NUE.
NʼUTILISEZ PAS VOTRE OUTIL DE NUIT, DANS
UN BROUILLARD ÉPAIS ou dans toutes autres

Prenez connaissance des applications de votre
outil et de son fonctionnement.
Prenez garde de ne pas vous approcher de lignes
haute tension.
Si la lame entre en contact avec un objet ou
si lʼoutil se met à vibrer ou à émettre un son
anormal, arrêtez le moteur et attendez que lʼoutil
sʼarrête complètement. Débranchez ensuite
le fil de la bougie et respectez les consignes
suivantes :
1. vérifiez que lʼoutil nʼest pas endommagé ;
2. vérifiez que des éléments ne se sont pas
desserrés. Si cʼest le cas, resserrez-les.
3. faites réparer toute pièce endommagée
ou faites-la remplacer par une pièce aux
caractéristiques équivalentes.
Arrêtez le moteur et débranchez le fil de la bougie :
1. avant de régler la position de travail ou de
procéder à des réglages de la lame ;
2. avant de nettoyer lʼoutil ou de dégager un objet
coincé ;
3. avant de procéder à toute vérification,
opération dʼentretien ou réglage sur lʼoutil.
Nʼinhalez pas les vapeurs de carburant, elles sont
toxiques.
CONSIGNES DE SÉCURITÉ SPÉCIFIQUES
UTILISEZ TOUJOURS VOTRE TAILLE-HAIES À
DEUX MAINS.
Nʼutilisez pas cet outil à proximité de brosses,
brindilles, morceaux de tissu ou tout autre
matériau inflammable.
NE METTEZ JAMAIS LE TAILLE-HAIES EN
MARCHE si du givre sʼest formé à un endroit sur
lʼoutil.
NʼUTILISEZ JAMAIS DE PRODUITS ACIDES
OU ALCALINS, DE SOLVANTS, DE LIQUIDES
INFLAMMABLES OU DE SOLUTIONS PRÊTES
À LʼEMPLOI dans ce taille-haies. Ces produits
risquent de blesser lʼutilisateur et de causer des
dommages irréversibles au taille-haies.
NE TENTEZ JAMAIS DE PROCÉDER À DES
RÉGLAGES LORSQUE LE MOTEUR EST EN
MARCHE (sauf indication spécifique contraire du
fabricant).
LES ÉLÉMENTS DE PROTECTION DOIVENT
TOUJOURS ÊTRE À LEUR PLACE DEVANT LES
PIÈCES ROTATIVES LORSQUE LE MOTEUR EST
EN MARCHE.
Veillez à maintenir les arrivées dʼair (au niveau
du starter) et lʼéchappement du moteur à 1 m au
moins des bâtiments et de tout objet susceptible
de brûler.
MAINTENEZ LE MOTEUR ÉLOIGNÉ DE TOUT
MATÉRIAU INFLAMMABLE OU DANGEREUX.
VEILLEZ À RESTER À LʼÉCART DES PIÈCES
BRÛLANTES. Lʼéchappement et autres pièces
du moteur deviennent brûlantes en cours
dʼutilisation. Soyez extrêmement vigilant.
NE TOUCHEZ PAS LA BOUGIE NI LE CÂBLE DE
DÉMARRAGE lors du démarrage et de lʼutilisation
du taille-haies.
VÉRIFIEZ QUE LES TUYAUX ET JOINTS SONT
BIEN FIXÉS ET NE PRÉSENTENT PAS DE FUITE
avant toute utilisation.
VÉRIFIEZ QUE LES VIS ET BOULONS SONT BIEN
SERRÉS avant chaque utilisation. Une vis ou un
boulon desserré peut entraîner des dommages au
niveau du moteur.
PORTEZ DES LUNETTES DE PROTECTION ET
DES PROTECTIONS AUDITIVES.
REMPLISSEZ TOUJOURS LE RÉSERVOIR DE
CARBURANT À LʼEXTÉRIEUR. Ne remplissez
jamais le réservoir à lʼintérieur ou dans un espace
mal aéré.

MISE EN GARDE
Certaines pièces de lʼoutil deviennent
chaudes en cours dʼutilisation.
Familiarisez-vous avec la zone de travail et soyez
conscient des dangers que le bruit du taille-haies
peut couvrir.
Nʼattrapez jamais le taille-haies par la lame.
De grandes variations de températures peuvent
entraîner de la condensation à lʼintérieur de lʼoutil.
Avant de lʼutiliser, laissez lʼoutil sʼadapter à la
température ambiante.
Ne forcez pas lʼoutil ; laissez-le travailler au
rythme pour lequel il a été conçu.
Nʼutilisez jamais votre outil sʼil manque certaines

Lors du transport, débranchez le fil de la bougie.
Transportez le taille-haies par les poignées et

Recouvrez la lame avec le fourreau fourni au

même ; faites effectuer les réparations par un
technicien qualifié.

endommagée ou très usée.

MÉLANGE DU CARBURANT (Fig. 2)
Votre outil fonctionne avec un moteur à 2 temps
nécessitant un mélange d'essence et d'huile
de synthèse 2 temps. Mélangez l'essence sans
plomb et l'huile de synthèse 2 temps dans un
récipient propre homologué pour contenir de
l'essence.
Le moteur fonctionne avec de l'essence sans
plomb pour véhicules avec un indice d'octane de
87 ([R + M] / 2) ou plus.
N'utilisez pas de mélanges essence/huile vendus
en stations-service, notamment les mélanges
pour motos, vélomoteurs, etc.
Utilisez uniquement une huile de synthèse deux
temps. N'utilisez pas d'huile de moteur pour
voitures ni d'huile 2 temps pour hors-bord.
Mélangez lʼhuile de synthèse 2 temps et lʼessence
à un ratio de 50:1 (2%).
Mélangez bien le carburant avant chaque
remplissage du réservoir.
Mélangez le carburant en petites quantités : ne
mélangez pas de carburant pour plus d'un mois.
Nous vous recommandons également d'utiliser
une huile de synthèse 2 temps contenant un
stabilisateur de carburant.
REMPLISSAGE DU RÉSERVOIR
Placez votre taille-haies sur le côté, avec le
bouchon du réservoir de carburant vers le haut.
Nettoyez le réservoir autour du bouchon afin
d'éviter toute contamination du carburant.
Dévissez lentement le bouchon du réservoir pour
relâcher la pression et éviter que du carburant ne
se répande autour du bouchon.
Nettoyez et contrôlez lʼétat du joint.
Versez avec précaution le mélange de carburant
dans le réservoir, en évitant dʼen répandre.
Replacez immédiatement le bouchon du réservoir
et serrez-le fermement. Veillez à essuyer toute
trace de carburant répandu. Éloignez-vous de 9
m au moins de l'endroit où vous avez rempli le
réservoir de carburant avant de faire démarrer le
moteur.
Remarque : Il est normal que de la fumée se dégage
du moteur au cours de la première utilisation,
et parfois par la suite.
AVERTISSEMENT
Arrêtez toujours le moteur avant de remplir le
réservoir. Ne remplissez jamais le réservoir
d'un outil lorsque le moteur est en marche ou
s'il est encore chaud.
Éloignez-vous de 9 m au moins de l'endroit
où vous avez rempli le réservoir de
carburant avant de faire démarrer le moteur.

MISE EN MARCHE ET ARRÊT DU TAILLE-
HAIES (Fig. 3)
AVERTISSEMENT
Si vous faites démarrer le moteur alors que
la gâchette est verrouillée, la lame bougera
quand même. Restez éloigné de la lame
et assurez-vous quʼil nʼy a aucun objet à
proximité de la lame. Vous éviterez ainsi les
risques de blessures graves.
POIGNÉE ROTATIVE (Fig. 4)
La poignée peut être tournée à 45° ou 90° vers la
droite ou vers la gauche.
Pour tourner la poignée :
Arrêtez le taille-haies.
Relâchez la gâchette.
Tirez la poignée rotative vers lʼextérieur.
Tournez la poignée vers la droite ou vers la
gauche.
Relâchez la poignée.
Continuez de tourner la poignée jusquʼà ce quʼelle
se bloque dans la position 45° ou 90°.
Remarque : le taille-haies ne fonctionnera que si la poignée
est bloquée dans lʼune de ces positions. La poignée est
bloquée lorsquʼelle nʼest pas tirée vers lʼextérieur et quʼelle
ne peut plus bouger ni dʼun côté ni de lʼautre.
UTILISATION DU TAILLE-HAIES (Fig. 5)
AVERTISSEMENT
Lisez les consignes de sécurité avant dʼutiliser
votre taille-haies. Soyez extrêmement
prudent lorsque vous utilisez des lames.
Reportez-vous aux “Consignes de sécurité
spécifiques”.
AVERTISSEMENT
Utilisez toujours votre taille-haies en le tenant
par les deux poignées. Nʼutilisez jamais votre
taille-haies dʼune seule main avec lʼautre main
tenant la haie à tailler. Le non respect de cet
avertissement peut entraîner des blessures
corporelles graves.

les pièces mobiles soient à lʼarrêt, débranchez
le fil de la bougie et éloignez ce dernier de la
bougie. Le non respect de ces consignes peut
entraîner de graves blessures ou dʼimportants
dégâts matériels.
ENTRETIEN GÉNÉRAL
Nʼutilisez pas de solvants pour nettoyer les pièces en
plastique. La plupart des plastiques sont susceptibles
dʼêtre endommagés par les solvants disponibles dans
le commerce. Utilisez un chiffon propre pour nettoyer
les impuretés, la poussière, lʼhuile, la graisse, etc.
AVERTISSEMENT
Ne laissez jamais du liquide de frein, de
lʼessence, des produits à base de pétrole,
des huiles pénétrantes, etc. entrer en contact
avec les éléments en plastique. Ces produits
chimiques contiennent des substances qui
peuvent endommager, fragiliser ou détruire le
plastique.
AVERTISSEMENT
Les dents de la lame sont très coupantes.
Lorsque vous devez manipuler la lame, portez
des gants de travail épais et anti-dérapants.
Lorsque vous manipulez la lame, ne placez
jamais vos mains ou doigts entre les dents
et évitez toute position dans laquelle vous
risqueriez de vous pincer ou de vous couper.
Ne touchez JAMAIS la lame et nʼeffectuez
aucune opération dʼentretien si le fil de la
bougie est branché.
ENTRETIEN DE LA LAME (Fig. 6)

Remarque : Ne lubrifiez jamais la lame lorsque le
taille-haies est en marche.
NETTOYAGE DU FILTRE À AIR (Fig. 8)
Retirez le couvercle du filtre à air en enfonçant
la languette avec votre pouce tout en tirant
doucement sur le couvercle.
Nettoyez le filtre à air à lʼaide dʼune brosse souple.
Remettez le couvercle du filtre en place en
insérant les languettes dans les fentes de la base
du filtre à air. Appuyez sur le couvercle jusquʼà ce
quʼil sʼinsère correctement.
BOUCHON DU RÉSERVOIR DE CARBURANT
AVERTISSEMENT
Un bouchon de réservoir non hermétique
entraîne des risques dʼincendies et doit être
remplacé immédiatement. Le non-respect de
cette consigne peut entraîner des risques de
blessures graves.
BOUGIE (Fig. 9)
Le moteur fonctionne avec une bougie Champion
RCJ-6Y à écartement dʼélectrode de 0,63 mm. Utilisez
uniquement le modèle recommandé et changez la
bougie une fois par an.
AVERTISSEMENT
Prenez garde de ne pas court-circuiter le fil de
la bougie : cela endommagerait sérieusement
lʼoutil.
NETTOYAGE DE LʼORIFICE DʼÉCHAPPEMENT ET DE
LʼÉCHAPPEMENT
Selon le type de carburant utilisé, le type et la quantité
dʼhuile utilisée et/ou les conditions dʼutilisation,
lʼorifice dʼéchappement et lʼéchappement peuvent
être obstrués par un excès de calamine. Si vous
constatez une perte de puissance de votre outil, il
peut être nécessaire de retirer la calamine accumulée.
Nous vous recommandons fortement de confier cette
opération à des techniciens qualifiés.
PARE-ÉTINCELLES
Lʼéchappement est équipé dʼune grille pare-étincelles.
Après une longue période dʼutilisation, cette grille
peut sʼencrasser et lʼéchappement doit alors être
remplacé par un Centre Service Agréé.
RANGEMENT (POUR 1 MOIS OU PLUS) (Fig. 10)
Versez tout le carburant restant dans le réservoir
dans un récipient homologué pour contenir de
lʼessence. Faites tourner le moteur jusquʼà ce quʼil
sʼarrête.
Nettoyez soigneusement le taille-haies. Rangez-
le dans un endroit bien aéré, hors de portée
des enfants. Ne rangez pas votre taille-haies à
proximité dʼagents corrosifs tels que des produits
chimiques de jardinage ou des sels de dégel.
Reportez-vous aux normes et réglementations
locales et nationales concernant le rangement et
la manipulation de carburant.
Placez toujours le fourreau de protection sur la
lame avant de transporter ou de ranger votre
taille-haies.

GENERAL SAFETY RULES
READ ALL INSTRUCTIONS BEFORE USING THIS PROD-
UCT
DO NOT ALLOW CHILDREN OR UNTRAINED INDI-
VIDUALS TO USE THIS UNIT.
KNOW YOUR MACHINE. Read the operator’s manual
carefully. Learn the machine’s applications and limitations
as well as the specifi c potential hazards related to this
machine.
KEEP GUARDS IN PLACE and in working order. Never
operate the machine with any guard or cover removed. Make
sure all guards are operating properly before each use.
REMOVE ADJUSTING KEYS AND WRENCHES. Form
habit of checking to see that keys and adjusting wrenches
are removed from machine before turning it on.
TO REDUCE THE RISK OF INJURY, keep children and
visitors away. All visitors should wear safety glasses and
be kept a safe distance from work area.
KEEP THE AREA OF OPERATION CLEAR OF ALL
PERSONS, particularly small children, and pets.
DO NOT OPERATE THE ENGINE IN A CONFINED
SPACE where dangerous carbon monoxide fumes can
collect. Carbon monoxide is a colourless, odorless and
an extremely dangerous gas and can cause unconscious-
ness or death.
USE RIGHT MACHINE. Don’t force machine or attach-ment
to do a job it was not designed for. Don’t use it for a purpose not
intended.
DRESS PROPERLY. Do not wear loose clothing, gloves,
neckties, or jewelry. They can get caught and draw you
into moving parts. Rubber gloves and nonskid footwear
are recommended when working outdoors. Also wear
protective hair covering to contain long hair.
DO NOT OPERATE THE EQUIPMENT WHILE BARE-
FOOT OR WHEN WEARING SANDALS OR SIMILAR
LIGHTWEIGHT FOOTWEAR. Wear protective footwear
that will protect your feet and improve your footing on slippery
surfaces.
EXERCISE CAUTION TO AVOID SLIPPING OR FALL-
ING.
ALWAYS WEAR SAFETY GLASSES WITH SIDE
SHIELDS. Everyday eyeglasses have only impact-resist-
ant lenses; they are NOT safety glasses.
DON’T OVERREACH OR STAND ON UNSTABLE SUP-
PORT. Keep proper footing and balance at all times.
USE ONLY RECOMMENDED ACCESSORIES. The use
of improper accessories may cause risk of injury.

carefully checked to determine that it will operate properly
and perform its intended function. Check for alignment
of moving parts, binding of moving parts, breakage of
parts, mounting and any other conditions that may affect
its operation. A guard or other part that is damaged must
be properly repaired or replaced by an authorized service
center to avoid risk of personal injury.
NEVER LEAVE MACHINE RUNNING UNATTENDED.
TURN POWER OFF. Don’t leave machine until it comes
to a complete stop.
KEEP THE ENGINE FREE OF GRASS, LEAVES, OR
GREASE to reduce the chance of a fi re hazard.
KEEP THE ExHAUST PIPE FREE OF FOREIGN OB-
JECTS.
FOLLOW MANUFACTURER’S RECOMMENDATIONS
FOR SAFE LOADING, UNLOADING, TRANSPORT,
AND STORAGE OF MACHINE.
KEEP MACHINE DRY, CLEAN, AND FREE FROM
LUBRICANT AND GREASE. Always use a clean cloth
when cleaning. Never use brake fl uids, petrol, petroleum-
based products, or any solvents to clean machine.
STAY ALERT AND EXERCISE CONTROL. Watch what
you are doing and use common sense. Do not operate
tool when you are tired. Do not rush.
DO NOT OPERATE THE PRODUCT WHILE UNDER THE
INFLUENCE OF DRUGS, ALCOHOL, OR ANY MEDICA-
TION.
CHECK THE WORK AREA BEFORE EACH USE. Re-
move all objects such as rocks, broken glass, nails, wire,
or string which can be thrown or become entangled in
the machine.
DO NOT USE MACHINE IF SWITCH DOES NOT TURN
IT ON AND OFF. Have defective switches replaced by
an authorized service center.
BEFORE CLEANING, REPAIRING, OR INSPECTING,
shut off the engine and make certain all moving parts have
stopped. Disconnect the spark plug wire, and keep the
wire away from the plug to prevent accidental starting.
AVOID DANGEROUS ENVIRONMENT. Don’t use in
damp or wet locations or expose to rain. Keep work area
well lit.
NEVER USE IN AN EXPLOSIVE ATMOSPHERE. Nor-
mal sparking of the motor could ignite fumes.
DO NOT OPERATE WHILE SMOKING OR NEAR AN
OPEN FLAME.
DO NOT OPERATE at night, at times of heavy fog, or at
any other times when your fi eld of vision might be limited
and it would be diffi cult to gain a clear view of area.
Be familiar with all controls and the proper use of the
machine.
Beware of overhead power lines.
The cutting mechanism strikes any foreign object or the
machine should start making any unusual noise or vibra-
tion, shut off the power source and allow the machine to
stop. Disconnect the spark plug wire from the spark plug
and take the following steps:
1. inspect for damage;
2. check for and tighten any loose parts;
3. have any damaged parts replaced or repaired with
parts having equivalent specifi cations.
Stop the engine and disconnect the spark plug wire from
the spark plug before
1. when adjusting the working position of the cutting
device;
2. cleaning or clearing a blockage;
3. checking, maintenance or working on the machine.
Do not inhale fuel fumes as they are toxic.
SPECIFIC SAFETY RULES
OPERATE THE UNIT BY BOTH HANDS.
DO NOT OPERATE AROUND dry brush, twigs, cloth
rags, or other fl ammable materials.
NEVER START THE MACHINE if ice has formed in any
part of the equipment.
DO NOT USE ACIDS, ALKALINES, SOLVENTS,
FLAMMABLE MATERIAL, OR INDUSTRIAL GRADE
SOLUTIONS in this product. These products can cause
physical injuries to the operator and irreversible damage
to the machine.
NEVER ATTEMPT TO MAKE ANY ADJUSTMENTS
WHILE THE ENGINE (MOTOR) IS RUNNING (except
where specifically recommended by the manufac-
turer).
PROTECTIVE COVERS MUST ALWAYS COVER RO-
TATING PARTS WHEN THE ENGINE IS RUNNING.
KEEP COOLING AIR INTAKE (recoil starter area) and
muffl er side of the engine at least 1m away from
buildings, obstructions, and other burnable objects.
KEEP THE ENGINE AWAY FROM FLAMMABLES
AND OTHER HAZARDOUS MATERIALS.
KEEP AWAY FROM HOT PARTS. The muffl er and
other engine parts become very hot, use caution.
DO NOT TOUCH THE SPARK PLUG AND IGNITION
CABLE when starting and operating the engine.
CHECK FUEL HOSES AND JOINTS for looseness and
fuel leakage before each use.
CHECK BOLTS AND NUTS for looseness before each
use. A loose bolt or nut may cause serious engine

ALWAYS REFUEL OUTDOORS. Never refuel indoors
or in a poorly ventilated area.
NEVER STORE THE MACHINE WITH FUEL IN THE
FUEL TANK INSIDE A BUILDING where ignition
sources are present, such as hot water and space
heaters, clothes dryers, and the like.
IF THE FUEL TANK HAS TO BE DRAINED, DO THIS
OUTDOORS.
TO REDUCE THE RISK OF FIRE AND BURN INJURY,
handle fuel with care. It is highly fl ammable.
DO NOT SMOKE WHILE HANDLING FUEL.
ADD FUEL BEFORE STARTING THE ENGINE. Never
remove the cap of the fuel tank or add fuel while the
engine is running or when the engine is hot.
LOOSEN FUEL CAP SLOWLY to release pressure and
to keep fuel from escaping around the cap.
REPLACE ALL FUEL TANK AND CONTAINER CAPS
SECURELY.
WIPE SPILLED FUEL FROM THE UNIT. Move 9m
away from refueling site before starting engine.
IF FUEL IS SPILLED, do not attempt to start the engine
but move the machine away from the area of spillage
and avoid creating any source of ignition until fuel vapors
have dissipated.
NEVER ATTEMPT TO BURN OFF SPILLED FUEL
UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES.
BEFORE STORING, ALLOW THE ENGINE TO
COOL.
STORE FUEL IN A COOL, WELL-VENTILATED AREA,
safely away from spark and/or fl ame-producing equip-
ment.
STORE FUEL IN CONTAINERS specifi cally designed
for this purpose.
EMPTY FUEL TANK AND RESTRAIN THE UNIT
FROM MOVING before transporting in a vehicle.
WHEN SERVICING USE ONLY IDENTICAL RE-
PLACEMENT PARTS. Use of any other parts may
create a hazard or cause product damage.
MAKE SURE MINIMUM CLEARANCE of 1m is main-
tained from combustible materials.
SAVE THESE INSTRUCTIONS. Refer to them fre-

Never operate the product without the safety guard in

Keep the working area free from wires, nails, metallic

Never grasp the tool by the blade.
Large variation in temperature can lead to condensation

Let the tool work at its own pace. Do not overload.
Never attempt to use an incomplete machine or one
tted with an unauthorised modifi cation.
When transporting, disconnect the spark plug wire.
During transport or storage always cover the with the
scabbard.

MIXING THE FUEL (Fig. 2)
This product is powered by a 2-stroke engine and
requires pre-mixing petrol and 2-stroke lubricant.
Pre-mix unleaded petrol and 2-stroke engine
lubricant in a clean container approved for petrol.

This engine is certified to operate
on unleaded petrol intended for
automotive use with an octane rating
of 87 ([R + M] / 2) or higher.
Do not use any type of pre-mixed petrol / lubricant
from fuel service stations, this includes the
pre-mixed petrol / lubricant intended for use in
mopeds, motorcycles, etc.
Use synthetic 2-stroke lubricant only. Do not
use automotive lubricant or 2-stroke outboard
lubricant.
Mix 2% synthetic 2-stroke lubricant into the petrol.
This is a 50:1 ratio.
Mix the fuel thoroughly and also each time before
fueling.
Mix in small quantities. Do not mix quantities
larger than usable in a 30 day period. Synthetic
2-stroke lubricant containing a fuel stabilizer is
recommended.
FILLING THE TANK
Position the hedge trimmer on its side with the
fuel cap pointing upward.
Clean surface around fuel cap to prevent
contamination.
Loosen fuel cap slowly to release pressure and to
keep fuel from escaping around the cap.
Clean and inspect the gasket.
Carefully pour fuel mixture into the tank. Avoid
spillage.
Immediately replace fuel cap and hand tighten.
Wipe up any fuel spillage. Move 9 m away from
refueling site before starting engine.
Note: It is normal for smoke to be emitted from a
new engine during and after first use.
WARNING
Always shut off engine before fueling. Never
add fuel to a machine with a running or hot
engine. Move at least 9 m from refueling site
before starting engine. Do not smoke!

STARTING AND STOPPING (Fig. 3)
WARNING
When the engine starts with the trigger
locked, the blades will move. Keep body,
objects, and obstructions away from blades.
Failure to keep away from the blades can
result in serious injury.
ROTATING HANDLE
(Fig. 4)
The handle can be rotated 45

or 90

to the left or to the
right.
To rotate handle:
Shut off the hedge trimmer.
Disengage the throttle trigger.
Pull back on the rotating handle knob.
Turn handle to the right or to the left.
Release rotating handle knob.
Keep turning handle until it locks into place in
one of the 45
o
or 90
o
positions.
NOTE: The trimmer will only operate at one of these locked
positions. The handle is locked when the rotating handle
knob is securely into place, is not extended, and the handle
will no longer move to either side.
OPERATING THE HEDGE TRIMMER (Fig. 5)
WARNING
Read the safety information for safe operation
using the blade. Extreme care must be taken
when using blades to ensure safe operation.
Refer to Specific Safety Rules.

Always keep both hands on the hedge
trimmer handles. Never hold shrubs with one
hand and operate hedge trimmer with the
other. Failure to heed this warning can result

Clear the area to be cut before each use.

Before inspecting, cleaning, or servicing the
machine, shut off engine, wait for all moving
parts to stop, and disconnect spark plug wire
and move it away from spark plug. Failure to
follow these instructions can result in serious
personal injury or property damage.
GENERAL MAINTENANCE
Avoid using solvents when cleaning plastic parts. Most
plastics are susceptible to damage from various types of
commercial solvents and may be damaged by their use. Use
clean cloths to remove dirt, dust, Lubricant, grease, etc.
WARNING
Do not at any time let brake fluids, gasoline,
petroleum-based products, penetrating
lubricant, etc., come in contact with plastic
parts. Chemicals can damage, weaken or
destroy plastic which may result in serious
personal injury.
WARNING
Blades are sharp. When handling the
blade assembly, wear non-slip, heavy-duty
protective gloves. Do not place your hand
or fingers between blades or in any position
where they could get pinched or cut. NEVER
touch blades or service unit with the spark
plug wire connected.
REPLACING BLADES (FIG. 6)

NOTE: Do not lubricant while the hedge trimmer is run-
ning.
CLEANING THE AIR FILTER SCREEN (Fig. 8)
Remove the air fi lter cover by pushing down on the latch
with your thumb while gently pulling on the cover.
Brush the air fi lter screen lightly to clean.
Replace the air fi lter cover by inserting the tabs on
the bottom of the cover into the slots on the air fi lter
base; push the cover up until it latches securely in place.
FUEL CAP
WARNING
A leaking fuel cap is a fire hazard and must
be replaced immediately. Failure to do so
could result in a fire that could cause serious
personal injury.
SPARK PLUG (FIG. 9)
This engine uses a Champion RCJ-6Y or equivalent with
0.63 mm (0.025 in.) electrode gap. Use an exact replace-
ment and replace annually.
WARNING
Be careful not to cross-thread the spark plug.
Crossthreading will seriously damage the
product.
CLEANING THE EXHAUST PORT AND MUFFLER
Depending on the type of fuel used, the type and amount
of lubricant used, and/or your operating conditions, the
exhaust port and muffl er may become blocked with carbon
de pos its. If you notice a power loss with your gas powered
tool, you may need to remove these deposits to restore
per for mance. We highly rec om mend ed that only qualifi ed
service technicians perform this service.
SPARK ARRESTOR
The muffl er is equipped with a spark arrestor screen inside
muffl er body. After extended use the screen can become
dirty and may need to have the muffl er replaced by an
authorized servicing dealer.
STORAGE (1 MONTH OR LONGER) (FIG. 10)
Drain all fuel from tank into a container ap proved for
gasoline. Run engine until it stops.
Clean all foreign material from the hedge trimmer.
Store it in a well-ventilated place that is in ac ces si ble
to children. Keep away from cor ro sive agents such as
garden chem i cals and de-icing salts.
Abide by all Federal and local regulations for the safe
storage and handling of gasoline.
Always place the scabbard on the cutting blades before
transporting or storing the unit.

NOTE: If your unit exhibits speci c performance problem(s) where the Troubleshooting section recommends a clockwise screw
adjustment on the carburetor and no adjustments have been made since original purchase, the unit should be taken to an authorized
service center for repair. In most cases, the needed adjustment is a simple task for the trained service representative.
TROUBLESHOOTING
IF THESE SOLUTIONS DO NOT SOLVE THE PROBLEM, CONTACT YOUR AUTHORISED SERVICE DEALER.
PROBLEM POSSIBLE CAUSE SOLUTION
Check spark. Remove spark plug. Reattach the spark
plug cap and lay spark plug on metal cylinder. Pull the
starter rope and watch for spark at spark plug tip. If
there is no spark, repeat test with a new spark plug.
Push primer bulb until bulb is full of fuel. If bulb does
not fill, primary fuel delivery sys tem is blocked. Con tact
a servicing dealer. If prim er bulb fills, engine may be
flooded, proceed to next item.
Pull starter three times with choke lever at “ ”. If
engine does not start, move choke lever to “ ” and
repeat normal starting procedure. If engine still fails to
start, repeat procedure with a new spark plug.
Contact a servicing dealer.
Allow engine to completely warm up. If engine does
not accelerate after three minutes, contact a ser vic ing
dealer.
Contact a ser vic ing dealer.
1. Use fresh fuel and the correct 2-stroke lubricant mix.
2. Clean air filter. Refer to Clean ing the Air Filter
Screen earlier in this manual.
3. Contact a servicing dealer.
