Installation

theseoperatinginstructionscarefully.Theycontainimportant
informationforsafeuse,forinstallationandforcareofthe
appliance.

Positioning and connection
Positioning
1. Placetheapplianceinawell-ventilatedhumidity-freeroom.
2. Donotobstructtherearfangrills.Thecompressorand
condensergiveoffheatandrequiregoodventilationto
operatecorrectlyandsaveenergy.
3. Leaveaspaceofatleast10cmbetweenthetoppartof
theapplianceandanyfurnitureaboveit,andatleast5cm
betweenthesidesandanyfurniture/sidewalls.
4. Ensuretheapplianceisawayfromanysourcesofheat
(directsunlight,electricstove,etc.).
5. Inordertomaintainthecorrectdistancebetweenthe
applianceandthewallbehindit,fitthespacerssuppliedin
theinstallationkit,followingtheinstructionsprovided.
Levelling
1. Installtheapplianceonalevelandrigidfloor.
2. Ifthefloorisnotperfectlyhorizontal,adjusttherefrigerator
bytighteningorlooseningthefrontfeet.
Electrical connections
Aftertheappliancehasbeentransported,carefullyplaceit
verticallyandwaitatleast3hoursbeforeconnectingittothe
electricitymains.Beforeinsertingtheplugintotheelectrical
socketensurethefollowing:
• Theapplianceisearthedandtheplugiscompliantwiththe
law.
• Thesocketcanwithstandthemaximumpowerofthe
appliance,whichisindicatedonthedataplatelocatedon
thebottomleftsideofthefridge(e.g.150W).
• Thevoltagemustbeintherangebetweenthevaluesindicated
onthedataplatelocatedonthebottomleftside(e.g.220-
240V).
• Thesocketiscompatiblewiththeplugoftheappliance.If
thesocketisincompatiblewiththeplug,askanauthorised
techniciantoreplaceit(seeAssistance).Donotuse
extensioncordsormultiplesockets.
!Oncetheappliancehasbeeninstalled,thepowersupply
cableandtheelectricalsocketmustbeeasilyaccessible.
!Thecablemustnotbebentorcompressed.
!Thecablemustbecheckedregularlyandreplacedby
authorisedtechniciansonly(seeAssistance).

Start-up and use
Starting the appliance
! Before starting the appliance, follow the installation
instructions (see Installation).
!Beforeconnectingtheappliance,cleanthecompartments
andaccessorieswellwithlukewarmwaterandbicarbonate.
1. Inserttheplugintothesocketandensurethattheinternal
lightilluminates.
2. TurntheTEMPERATUREADJUSTMENTknobtoanaverage
value.Afterafewhoursyouwillbeabletoputfoodinthe
refrigerator.
Setting the temperature
Thetemperatureinsidetherefrigeratorcompartment
automaticallyadjustsitselfaccordingtothepositionofthe
TEMPERATUREADJUSTMENTknob.
1=warmest 5=coldest
Werecommend,however,amediumposition.
Thecoolingsectionoftherefrigeratorislocatedinsidethe
backwalloftherefrigeratorcompartmentforincreasedspace
andimprovedaesthetics.Duringoperation,thebackwallwill
becoveredinfrostorwaterdropletsdependingonwhether
thecompressorisoperatingorpaused.Donotworry,the
refrigeratorisfunctioningnormally.
IftheTEMPERATUREADJUSTMENTknobhasbeenset
onhighvalueswithlargequantitiesoffoodandwithahigh
ambienttemperature,theappliancecanoperatecontinuously,
resultinginexcessivefrostformationandexcessiveenergy
consumption:compensateforthisbyshiftingtheknobtowards
lowervalues(defrostingwilloccurautomatically).Instatic
appliances,theaircirculatesinanaturalway:thecolderair
tendstomovedownwardsasitisheavier.Thefoodshouldbe
storedasfollows:

Itisrecognizableduetothepresenceofthemechanismonthe
toppartoftherefrigeratorcompartment(seediagram).
AIRmaximisesaircirculation,improvingtheefficiencyofthe
evaporatorandhelpingtoachievetheoptimaltemperature
insidetherefrigeratorasquicklyaspossibleeachtimeithas
beenopened.Theblownair(A)iscooledwhenitcomesinto
contactwiththecoldwall,whereasthehotterair(B)issucked
up(seediagram).
IftheTEMPERATUREADJUSTMENTknobhasbeenset
onhighvalueswithlargequantitiesoffoodandwithahigh
ambienttemperature,theappliancecanoperatecontinuously,
resultinginexcessivefrostformationandexcessiveenergy
consumption:compensateforthisbyshiftingtheknobtowards
lowervalues(defrostingwilloccurautomatically).
Using the refrigerator to its full potential
• Placeonlycoldorlukewarmfoodsinthecompartment,not
hotfoods(seePrecautionsandtips).
• Rememberthatcookedfoodsdonotlastlongerthanraw
foods.
