Cleaning and Maintenance
For best operation, be sure to follow these cleaning
and maintenance recommendations every time the
pressure cooker is used:
After each use always wash your pressure cooker
with water and washing-up liquid. Do the same for
the basket*.
Never use bleach or chlorine products as these
could permanently damage the stainless steel.
Do not overheat your pan when it is empty.
To clean the inside of the pan
Clean it with a scouring pad and washing-up liquid.
If the inside of the stainless steel cooker has
iridescent reflections or white spots, clean with
white vinegar.
The pan is dishwasher safe.

automatic air removal system, refit it by pressing
and turning it simultaneously.
Never leave food in
your pressure
cooker.
You can put the

pressing hard with a cotton bud in the central part
of the valve, which should be moveable - Fig. 16.
You can clean this valve under running water.
Check that the unit seal (O) is properly in place. If
the seal is missing or damaged, leaks can occur in
the unit when your pressure cooker is in use. The
shape of the seal allows it to be removed and
replaced easily. If necessary to replace, this part is

Safety
Your pressure cooker is provided with a number of safety mechanisms:
Closing safely
The jaws should close under the rim of the pan (N).
If this is not the case, there is steam leakage on the
pressure indicator and your pressure cooker will not
build up pressure (refer to the section headed
"Locking").
Do not try to fold
the handles* wi-
thout pressing the
release buttons.
You must have your
pressure cooker
checked at a TEFAL
Approved Service
Centre after 10
years of use.
14
Opening safely
If your pressure cooker is pressurised, the
opening/closing (E) handle cannot be operated
because the mechanism is locked by the pressure
indicator.
Never try to force open your pressure cooker.
Do not interfere with the pressure indicator (D).
Make sure that the internal pressure has fallen.
If you move the open/close handle (E) to a vertical
position, while the pressure cooker is still
pressurized you cannot open it.
Check that the pressure setting (F) is set to and
wait until the pressure indicator (D) is at the low
setting.
Two high pressure safety systems
First device: the safety valve (Q) releases the
pressure and steam escapes under the control
module - Fig. 18.
Second device: the seal releases steam between
the lid and the pan
- Fig. 19.
If one of the high pressure safety systems is
triggered:
Turn off the heat source.
Let your pressure cooker cool completely.
Open it.
Check and clean the operating valve (P), the
steam release outlet (A), the safety valve (Q)
and the seal (G).
If, after checking and cleaning, your product
leaks or does not work, call our Customer
Relations Helplne.
